CAF v1.8: Taskforce invite

SLCP will soon start preparing the CAF tool v1.8 for 2026 operations. We welcome and encourage participation from our signatories in the CAF v1.8 Taskforce. If you are interested in shaping the content of our Data Collection Tool v1.8, please reach out to annelise@slconvergence.org
  • Involvement timeframe: kick-off November 2024 and end of activity by April 2025
  • Approximate scope of activity: minimum 16 hours (includes Zoom calls, review of documents and providing feedback/ advice)
  • Participant profile: technical experts who can advise on social and labor data that we are missing, need to edit, or can consolidate
If you do not have the time to be part of the Taskforce, we still welcome your detailed feedback for CAF v1.8, especially data points you think can be deleted or you find confusing. If you already shared your feedback through our recent CAF survey, then it's not necessary to respond again. If you still have feedback to share, please send detailed and actionable requests for changes to the tool directly to annelise@slconvergence.org.
SLCP pilot in Uzbekistan

At the side of the conference hosted by the manufacturing associations IAF-ITMF in Samarkand earlier this month, SLCP launched a pilot test in Uzbekistan. The country is going through reforms and keen to expand its textile and garments exports. As confirmed by the ILO in June 2024, Uzbekistan is making strides in improving working conditions and positioning
itself as a competitive player in the global apparel
market.

Following this recent progress, SLCP would like to build capacity on social compliance and test the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) in a small number of facilities. Based on the results, this may be an opportunity to plan for a scaled roll-out of SLCP in Uzbekistan in the future and demonstrate its potential as a sustainable sourcing country to SLCP stakeholders. The pilot project will be closely coordinated with Uztextileprom (the local association) and Better Work Uzbekistan. Thanks to the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) for supporting and funding this pilot project, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

In 2023, we hosted our first in-person regional Quality Assurance forums for Verifier Bodies in Turkey and China. This year, the Data Quality & Integrity team is heading to India for the 2024 SLCP QA regional forum as part of the “SLCP week in India”.

This event is tailored for Verifier Bodies (VBs) in India, especially the regional Scheme Managers, Quality Managers, and local Quality Report Reviewers. During the session, we’ll dive into the key quality issues identified in SLCP data from India and share the steps we’ve taken to ensure high data quality. Through this in-person engagement, we aim to foster greater collaboration with VBs to deliver on our shared commitment to improve quality.

Stay tuned for more updates on the event.
