SLCP Signatory Newsflash

Welcome to the SLCP Signatory Newsflash!

Friday 20 December 2024
This year marked the beginning of our new five-year strategy, and SLCP’s first year as an independent Stichting organization.

We are very proud to be able to report a smooth transition to a separate entity, successful collaboration with our new Board, and a financially robust and healthy organization, all while our teams have been supported to continue their work seamlessly as SLCP entered a new chapter.

The successful shift to an independent organization has enabled us to remain aligned with our mission: to drive decent working conditions in global supply chains. With now over 15,000 facilities registered on the SLCP Gateway, we’re proud of the work we’ve done to support convergence and reduce audit fatigue. The recent Better Buying Purchasing Practices Index found that in 2024, the number of buyers adopting SLCP increased by over 5 percentage points compared to last year, with 67% of respondents reporting reduced staff time devoted to auditing, and 57% seeing money saved on auditing expenses. You can read more about these results below.

As our signatories, we thank you for your support and involvement with SLCP throughout the year. We look forward to continuing our engagement with all of you next year and strengthening our collaboration.

Janet Mensink
CEO

‘Why Streamlining Data Is More Urgent Than Ever
by Janet Mensink

Published via the Sourcing Journal

The third article in CEO Janet Mensink's series for Sourcing Journal highlights the urgent need to streamline data for greater efficiency, transparency, and consistency in assessing labor conditions across global supply chains.

In the article, Janet urges all stakeholders to collaborate with SLCP: “Collectively we can act now to make audit fatigue a problem of the past and to create actual improvements to labor conditions.”

Benefits of SLCP clear in the latest Better Buying Index Report

The latest BBI report highlights supplier feedback on the purchasing practices of 27 buyers. A key finding shows progress in audit harmonization, with more buyers now accepting standardized tools like SLCP’s Converged Assessment Framework rather than conducting their own audits. This year, the number of buyers adopting SLCP increased by over 5 percentage points compared to last year.

Suppliers reported significant benefits from adopting SLCP, including:

  • More clarity on corrective actions (71%)
  • Reduced staff time devoted to auditing (67%)
  • Money saved on auditing expenses (57%)

Tool translation: The CAF is now available in Turkish

We are excited to announce that, in addition to English, Chinese, and Vietnamese, the Data Collection Tool is now also available in Turkish.

This option is available for facilities completing an SLCP assessment via the Worldly platform. While the questions are now provided in Turkish, facility answers must still be submitted in English, as required for all versions of the translated CAF. This ensures that responses remain consistent and can be interpreted by brands worldwide.

Gain insights from our latest case study!
