Interview: The Global Fashion Agenda & SLCP as impact partners

To coincide with the release of the Global Fashion Agenda’s Monitor 2024, our CEO Janet Mensink spoke to the Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) about how we can work together to create respectful and secure work environments, ensuring that universal human rights are upheld for everyone employed throughout the value chain.

Janet said, “Partnering with GFA has supported us to create impact by amplifying the call to action to the industry to ditch duplicative and repetitive social audits and to adopt the CAF. By joining forces with influential and respected actors such as GFA, we have begun to shift the dial when it comes to the approach to social auditing.”

‘Improving Buyer-Supplier Equity Through Facility Ownership of Data’
by Janet Mensink

Published via the Sourcing Journal

SLCP CEO Janet Mensink is writing a series of guest
articles for Sourcing Journal on the need to re-envision
the traditional social auditing model.

In the second of three articles, Janet discusses the importance of creating a social auditing system that addresses power imbalances in buyer-supplier
relationships, providing facilities with greater agency.
This enables a more accurate picture of social and labor conditions in order to drive meaningful improvements.

Janet explains that SLCP supports this shift by creating a system where facilities actively participate in collecting their social and labor data, retain ownership of the externally verified dataset, and control how it is shared. This approach aims to foster a new model of equal partnership between facilities and their buyers.

Open Supply Hub (OS Hub) is a non-profit powering the transition to safe and sustainable production with the world’s most complete, open and accessible global supply chain map. It shows where global production locations are and who is connected to them and makes that data easy for anyone to work with. In doing so, OS Hub is opening doors to new solutions, targeted investment, and more effective collaborations.

Both SLCP and OS Hub are aligned with the belief that we urgently need collaborative solutions to limit the burden of mandatory human rights due diligence on suppliers. Read more about our collaboration in this blog.

SLCP Acceptance list: Manufacturers, join now!

Are you a manufacturer rolling out SLCP to your own supplier?

SLCP’s acceptance list shows which brands, buyers and organizations accept SLCP data. This means that if a facility has an SLCP assessment, the company will usually accept this in place of a third party or proprietary social audit.

SLCP’s acceptance list is not just for brands but also for any company that is a buyer in the supply chain and is using SLCP data with their own suppliers.
