As announced in last week’s newsflash, elections for 9 seats on the SLCP Council are currently taking place. Don’t miss this opportunity to have a say on who should represent signatories on the Council in 2021. Please submit your vote through this voting ballot, by latest 1 February, CoB.
Apply Now: Accepting New Verifier Body Applications
The Verification Oversight Organization has re-opened applications for new Verifier Bodies, and the list has been expanded to include new countries where SLCP may launch in 2021. The new countries added are: Belgium, Bosnia, Brazil, Canada, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Pakistan, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, UK, Ukraine. Collaboration with the Better Buying Institute (BBI)
SLCP and the Better Buying Institute (BBI) have signed a collaboration agreement to pursue our shared vision of improved working conditions in apparel and footwear supply chains. Our partnership will provide data around the convergence of social assessments and identify potential links between purchasing practices and social conditions in the supply chain. As a first step, we have jointly developed some key questions related to the convergence of social assessments and implementation of the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) to be added to the Better BuyingTM Purchasing Practices Index. These questions will be incorporated into the upcoming Better BuyingTM ratings cycle, which begins 1 April. We will provide more information during our signatory webinars on 21 January.
Better Buying Institute (BBI) – Exclusive Webinar for SLCP Signatories
We encourage SLCP signatories to engage with BBI by submitting ratings if you are a manufacturer or encouraging your suppliers to do so if you are a brand or retailer. On 3 February at 10:00am ET, Better Buying Institute will offer an exclusive webinar to SLCP signatories to share more information about its brand and retailer subscriptions and how engaging with Better BuyingTM can help SLCP signatories identify risks and opportunities throughout their supply chains, build stronger relationships with suppliers, and improve purchasing practices over time.
