Using SLCP deeper into supply chains

Did you know that SLCP is already operational in different Tiers of the supply chain? We saw a growth of over 40% in Tier 2 in 2023 - with China, Turkey and Vietnam having the highest number of Tier 2 facilities. Tier 3 facilities are also coming on board. Read more in our new Fact Sheet on our website.

Interested to learn more about SLCP's adoption in Tier 2 and Tier 3, and sectors outside of textile and apparel? Get in touch with our Business Development Manager, Lottie Watkinson --> lottie@slconvergence.org

More free facility trainings in Turkey AND online!

We are also hosting in-person training sessions on the SLCP assessment process for facilities in Turkey, and various virtual training sessions for facilities in Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and English. They are full day sessions featuring the SLCP team and expert guest speakers who will present tailored content for each audience.

First training webinar for Verifier Bodies hosted in March

Targeted to Verifier Body (VB) Scheme Managers and Quality Managers, one of the topics discussed in the webinar were the changes to the new version of our Converged Assessment Framework  -  CAF v1.6. In the Verification/Assessment detail section of the tool there are now 34 additional questions to provide more granular and actionable data.

The new questions relate to areas such as:
  • The number of interviews with contract workers and non-production workers.
  • The management representative attending the opening or closing meetings.
  • The name of the report reviewer.
  • Visits to onsite and off-site dormitories and canteens managed by the facility.
  • Specific data points identifying integrity and honest data.
  • Documentation review, for example - the number of workers sampled, payroll records, working hour records, etc.
The changes aim to provide deeper insights into the verification process for brands. They will also enable Verifiers and VBs to identify any potential discrepancies in the data and so drive greater accuracy and reliability.

For more resources on the changes in the CAF Tool, head to the Helpdesk FAQ.

If you missed the webinar or would like to review the topics covered again, the slide deck is available here.
SLCP in Action!

This week, our CEO Janet Mensink was in Brussels as one of the guest speakers at our joint event with the International Trade Centre - "Reducing audit fatigue: Wider impacts for manufacturers and applicability to Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD)". Special thanks to our other guest speakers: Loay Tolba from New Balance, Pascale Moreau from H&M Group, and Joseph Wozniak from ITC, for their valuable contributions.

This InfoPoint event was part of the European Commission's Department for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) supported project, “Transparency and traceability in the garment and footwear industry”. The session aimed to highlight the impacts of driving greater convergence in social and labor compliance efforts, reducing audit fatigue, and ensuring alignment with HRDD practices.
