Developing SLCP’s new 5-year strategy:
How signatories can get involved

11 April 2023

This newsflash provides an update on the development of SLCP’s 2024-2028 strategy and explains how signatories can engage and input. Read on for more info!
Context: SLCP’s 2024-2028 Strategy
As announced in our General Assembly, our current strategic cycle will end this year. The Council has formed a committee to develop the new strategy. The members of this Strategy Committee are:
  • Ninh Trinh – Target (Chair)
  • Michael Cai – Décor
  • Margot Sfeir – Elevate
  • Anna Burger – Independent
The initial work commenced at the end of 2022 when the Council outlined the general direction and established a 2023 workplan for the development of the new strategy.
High level development process
The Secretariat will take the lead in development of the 2024-2028 strategy under the supervision of the Strategy Committee. The Secretariat will be supported by external consultants, particularly for the project management, horizon scanning and actual report writing/ comms. Throughout the process, there will be several touchpoints with the SLCP signatory base.
General direction as set by the Council
Supported by an external agency, The Terrace, the Council has stipulated the overall direction for the new strategy. Given the success and robustness of the current mission, vision and strategic aims, the general framework is ‘Evolution rather than Revolution’. Therefore, the new strategy is expected to be along the lines of the current one, with opportunities to update the positioning in the context of progress made and relevance given the (quickly) changing landscape. The new strategy will again be for 5 years, though the details will be elaborated for the first years only. A mid-term review will be used to confirm or adjust the strategy for the final years.
Opportunities for signatories to provide input & feedback
SLCP is a signatory-based organization, and we therefore want to actively engage you in the development process for our new strategy. Agency The Terrace will support the Secretariat in this consultation. We will have several Signatory touchpoints in the next coming months:

  • April: Kick off webinar: We will hold a short webinar (30 mins) on 19 April (EMEA / Americas) and 20 April (Asia/ EMEA) to run through the strategy development process and take any questions. Please follow the links to register.

  • April: Signatory survey: We have set up a survey to get your high-level input for the new strategy. We will use this information to inform the development of the building blocks for the new strategy. We would be grateful to receive one response per signatory by 1 May.

  • May: Interactive webinars: Once we have analyzed the survey results, the Strategy Committee and Secretariat would like to meet with signatories to present and discuss the results in webinars on 16 May. Please follow the links to register: Asia/ EMEA and EMEA/ Americas.

  • June: In-person meeting in Copenhagen: We will use your response and feedback from the webinars to confirm or adjust the strategy building blocks and elaborate them further in June. We aim to present our first draft (high level) strategy in an in-person meeting in Copenhagen on Monday 26 June in the afternoon (in the week of the Global Fashion Summit). This will be the ‘flag-ship session’ in the development of the new SLCP strategy, with interactive discussions. Please save the date for this and register here

The final draft plan will be shared with you end Q3 2023. We aim to present this in a webinar after which it will be put to vote to all Signatories.

We hope to have your input in this important process!
