Worker Engagement Technology (WE Tech)

WE Tech is a sub-set of the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) that provides insights into worker experience.

What is (WE Tech) and how does it work?

SLCP WE Tech consists of a set of 20 questions (WE Question Set) asking workers about their personal experience working at a facility. The WE Question Set is a subset of the Data Collection Tool and is in the form of a digital survey sent to workers’ mobile phones. Workers can choose to take the survey onsite or offsite, and all responses are 100% anonymous.

The WE Question Set is deployed at a facility by SLCP approved WE Tech Service Providers (WE TSP).  The aggregated and anonymous survey results are generated into a WE Tech Summary Report by the WE TSP. The WE Tech Summary Report is used by the facility to inform completion of the self/joint-assessment as well as the Verifier to inform verification of the self/joint-assessment. After verification, the WE Tech Summary Report is uploaded to the Accredited Host platform and shared together with the verified assessment report.

WE Tech is mandatory for Full Virtual Verification and strongly recommended for regular SLCP onsite verifications. The WE Tech Summary Report is used by the facility to inform completion of the self/ joint-assessment as well as the Verifier to inform verification of the self/ joint-assessment. After verification, the WE Tech Summary Report is uploaded along with the verified assessment report to the Accredited Host platform and shared together with the verified assessment report.

WE Tech is available in any language and a full list of WE TSPs is available on SLCP’s Helpdesk.

Benefits of deploying WE Tech

The deployment of WE Tech can provide benefits for facilities, brands and Verifier Bodies using SLCP by;

  • Providing clearer insights into worker experience

  • Contributing to the accuracy of SLCP data collected

  • Improving verification of sensitive data (e.g., harassment, discrimination)

  • Revealing new information about working conditions and workers in the facility

  • Allowing two-way communication between workers and facility management
