SLCP launches updated Toolkit to support stakeholders in their human rights due diligence implementation

The HRDD Toolkit outlines how SLCP’s social assessment tool – the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) – can help users comply with new due diligence legislation.

Following the success of the first edition of the HRDD Toolkit in May 2023, SLCP is today issuing a revised version containing updated guidance on how its Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) can be useful in supporting the implementation of mandatory human rights due diligence.

In a fast-evolving regulatory landscape, many companies are seeking to better understand how they can identify, assess, prevent and mitigate their human rights impacts. SLCP assessments provide credible and actionable data that can support companies to both identify human rights risks and to track and monitor progress.

SLCP’s HRDD Toolkit explains how the CAF is useful for these key due diligence steps. The latest edition includes updates to all chapters to ensure the information is up-to-date and relevant. Additionally, it goes into greater detail on how the CAF aligns with the new Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), as well as how it can add value for different supply chain actors, and how SLCP aligns with the key principles of HRDD.

While the Toolkit sets out SLCP’s compatibility with emerging legislation in different jurisdictions – such as the CSDDD in the EU and the ban on forced labor in the USA – it also clarifies the limits of a broad social assessment and signposts where other actions are required to complete the due diligence cycle. The message is clear: responsibility to undertake HRDD rests squarely on the complying company and using SLCP is one of many measures companies can take to implement legislative obligations.

Yesterday evening in Amsterdam, SLCP hosted a well-attended launch event to present the new edition to close stakeholders and partners. Speakers included Nikhil Hirdaramani, Partner of the Hirdaramani Group and representative for manufacturers on the SLCP Board. He said:

“The rise in HRDD legislation represents an opportunity to drive lasting improvements to working conditions but, in order to be effective, we must avoid overburdening manufacturers with additional reporting or more duplicative assessments. The SLCP HRDD Toolkit is therefore a timely and useful resource, as it will help companies to understand how existing tools such as SLCP can support in their human rights due diligence implementation.”

Janet Mensink, SLCP’s CEO said:

Companies today must meet the demands of a wide range of HRDD regulation and are faced with a multitude of options in terms of supporting tools and measures. In this complex landscape, we want to help our stakeholders understand the precise role SLCP can play in supporting them to gather credible and actionable social and labor data as part of their due diligence activities. We are pleased therefore to share the updated HRDD Toolkit and expect it to be a useful resource for our stakeholders.”
