2018 Light Ops launched

SLCP has now officially launched!

After two-and-a-half years of development we are excited to implement the full SLCP system in Sri Lanka and China this year - not just the final version of the Converged Assessment Framework, but qualified verifiers, a Verification Oversight Organization (VOO), Accredited Host (AH) platforms and the Gateway are all lined up for operation. Translation of all SLCP resources, including the Data Collection Tool, into Chinese has been completed. Trainings have successfully been conducted in Colombo, Shenzhen and Shanghai where we have launched with 200+ facilities and 100+ qualified verifiers this year. During the 2018 Light Operation, Sumerra acts as our Verification Oversight Organization (VOO) to oversee quality verification. For the hosting & sharing of SLCP verified assessments, our partners are the International Trade Center-ITC (hosting the SLCP Central Distribution Gateway) and Assent, FFC and SAC that act as Accredited Hosts.

The Gateway is now accessible here

Facilities, Verifier Bodies and Verifiers can use the platform to create and manage their accounts. 2018 Light Operation will run until 21 January 2019. Our earlier pilots concluded that hands-on guidance for facilities and verifiers is essential for SLCP understanding and implementation. For this reason, we programmed in-country workshops. Training for participating facilities and verifiers took place in China and Sri Lanka from 9-26 October. Sharon Hesp and Christian Smith from the SLCP Secretariat ran the training sessions in Colombo with support from Joe Wozniak of ITC. The following week, Sharon continued to Shenzhen and to Shanghai the week after. Here she was supported by Madison Wilcox of ITC and Kara Chan, a native Chinese speaker. Training participation was high, and feedback has been positive. Facilities and verifiers report feeling well equipped to take on 2018 Light Operation.

Many thanks to ITC for their contribution in translations and training, and for building the Gateway. Special thanks to JAAF, Hirdaramani Group and MAS Holdings for their support in Sri Lanka, and to SGS for their help in both Shenzhen and Shanghai. Thanks to Assent, FFC and SAC for developing the Accredited Host platforms, and last but not least thanks to the facilities, verifier bodies and brands involved in testing the data flows. The full data flow has been tested with 15+ facilities and 5 brands. Many thanks for their diligence and patience.
