SLCP becomes an independent non-profit foundation.

As of 1 February 2024, SLCP is registered and operational as an independent non-profit foundation in the Netherlands, known as a “stichting”. Our status as a public benefit organization (PBO) has also been confirmed.

The transition to independence follows a vote from you, our SLCP signatories, in September 2023, where you gave overwhelming support for both our new five-year Strategy and plans for independence.

What does this mean for you?

Most importantly for our signatories, we will maintain our existing governance arrangements which means you will continue to elect Board members, have voting rights on significant issues, take part in our Technical Advisory Committees (TACs) and of course engage with us through webinars, meetings and other channels.

The previous SLCP Council becomes a new two-tier Management and Supervisory Board led by an Independent Chair. You can see all the changes to our Governance on our new stichting SLCP Governance webpage.

Deeper strategic collaboration with SAC

SLCP and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) who incubated SLCP back in 2015, are committed to a close-knit partnership aligning our tools and strategies for a shared vision of improved global working conditions. SAC is steadfast in supporting and incorporating SLCP’s Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) as the preferred social compliance assessment framework for the Higg Facility Social & Labor Module (FSLM). Janet Mensink, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at SLCP said:

We are excited to be moving forward with the next stage of SLCP’s evolution, building on the strong foundations and the impact we have already achieved with SAC, all our signatories and partners. Our new five-year Strategy demonstrates how we will continue to progress our shared vision of creating decent working conditions in global supply chains - focusing on relevant and effective tools; credible and actionable data; accelerated collaborative improvement actions; and an inclusive organization and dynamic ecosystem. We are grateful to everyone who has helped and supported us to get to this point, and I look forward to a renewed relationship with SAC to drive even greater impact.”

Tamar Hoek, SAC board chair said:

Together, SAC and SLCP will continue to call for harmonized assessment frameworks and increased adoption, fostering a culture of responsibility and accountability within the industry. This collaboration is a testament to what can be achieved when organizations work together with a shared vision for a better, more sustainable future."
