Welcome to the SLCP Signatory Newsflash!

Tuesday 10 October 2023

Dear SLCP signatories,

We are very pleased to announce that we have secured widespread support for our next five-year Strategy and our plans to become an independent organization.

A total of 56% of our signatories took part in the vote with 98% supportive of our Strategy and 97% in favor of our independence. A big thank you to all our signatories for your votes and for taking the time to support us.

We will now finalize our Strategic Plan (2024-2028) – ensuring we consider any feedback that you have given - so we are ready to fully operationalize it next year.

Following final approval by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) board at their Annual Meeting last month, we are also moving forward with our plans to become an independent organization (“Stichting SLCP”) from January 2024. In the Netherlands, a not-for-profit foundation is known as a “stichting”. You can see all the information about plans for our independence including FAQs on the signatory portal.
Janet Mensink, Executive Director of SLCP said: “We are excited to be moving forward with the next stage of SLCP’s evolution, building on the strong foundations and the impact we have already achieved with our signatories and partners.

“Our new Strategy demonstrates how we will progress our shared vision of creating decent working conditions in global supply chains - focusing on four strategic objectives, relevant and effective tools; credible and actionable data; accelerated collaborative improvement actions; and an inclusive organization and dynamic ecosystem. We are grateful to everyone who has helped and supported us to get to this point, and I look forward to working together to drive even greater impact.”

Amina Razvi, Chief Executive Officer of SAC said: “Our partnership with SLCP has been invaluable, proving that real change happens when we actively work together for positive industry change. We believe it's the right time for SLCP to step into its own and are excited to see them thrive as an independent non-profit, charting a new course in partnership with the SAC.”
Look out for more information about our Strategy and plans for independence in upcoming signatory Newsflashes - plus everything else that we are up to!
