Cascale & SLCP Joint Public Affairs Vision Statement

Cascale and the Social Labor and Convergence Program (SLCP) recognize the essential role of governments and policymakers in driving improved decent work in global supply chains. This is why SLCP and Cascale are closely collaborating in the policy and public affairs space. By achieving the following activities, we can collectively work towards a consumer goods industry that embraces ethical and sustainable practices:

  • Establishing consistent strategic interactions: Through regular knowledge sharing and updates, we aim to both inform and strengthen our joint advocacy efforts, drawing insights from members, signatories, and external stakeholders.

  • Educating and learning from our members and signatories: We empower SLCP signatories and Cascale members with critical insights into social and environmental global policy developments while also seeking their perspectives to enrich our approach. Past initiatives include the SLCP CSRD Guidance Document and the SLCP Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) Toolkit, both endorsed by and incorporating contributions from Cascale. This demonstrates our commitment to equipping shared stakeholders with practical, policy-aligned tools.

  • Aligning on tools, regulations, and messaging: By uniting our approach with key industry stakeholders we aim to enhance communication and impact.

  • Amplifying co-developed positions: We work together to elevate the industry’s voice through common positions steered by the Policy Hub. An example is our joint feedback on Forced Labor regulations submitted to the European Commission, which leveraged both SLCP and Cascale’s expertise.

  • Cross-promotion, active participation, and learning from engagements: Through joint events, webinars, meetings, and forums, such as sessions at the Cascale Annual Meeting or within Cascale’s “Navigating Legislation & the Higg Index” webinar series, we not only work to raise industry awareness and engagement on the critical role of policy in driving improvement programs but also create opportunities for collective learning and feedback exchange within the industry.

  • Driving policy acceptance: Together, we advocate for integrating critical industryrecognized data, such as  Higg FSLM/ SLCP data, into social policy frameworks, ensuring our industry standards align with and influence regulatory efforts.

  • Developing a shared policy vision: Our combined efforts are focused on fostering a unified vision for social responsibility within our industry, shaped by an ongoing commitment to learn from and adapt to the perspectives of members, signatories, and stakeholders, setting a standard for ethical, sustainable practices.

A Note From Cascale & SLCP

Our strategic collaboration represents a foundational commitment to fostering decent work for all within the textiles, apparel, footwear, and wider consumer goods industry.

Through our close collaboration, we aim to harmonize efforts in policy and publica affairs, ensuring that our collective voice resonates meaningfully within the industry and among policymakers. By bringing the perspectives of our communities, particularly those of manufacturers, to policy discussions, we strive to represent the needs and realities of those directly responsible for implementing these standards on the ground.

This collaboration is built on a commitment to mutual learning and empowerment. While we work to keep Cascale members, SLCP signatories, and the wider industry informed on the latest social and environmental policy developments for supply chains, we also actively listen and learn from their unique insights and experiences. This exchange enriches our advocacy, supports the alignment of our tools, regulations, and messaging, and strengthens our capacity to represent all stakeholders effectively.

Together, we amplify co-developed positions through the Policy Hub and participate in each others’ events, including panels and webinars, that deepen industry engagement and provide a platform for shared knowledge. These engagements aim to elevate the role of policy in driving improvement programs and promote collaborative dialogue. Through this approach, we may better understand and advocate for the industry’s evolving needs.

Our unified approach ensures that policymakers recognize and integrate critical industryrecognized data, such as the CAF/Higg FSLM data, into social policy implementation. This collaboration paves the way for a shared vision of social responsibility, setting a new standard for ethical and sustainable practices within our industry. Together, we are leading the change towards a more responsible and sustainable future.
