Signatory Survey 2023 results

Thanks to all of you who took part in our annual Signatory Survey. Nearly 50% of signatories responded giving us great feedback on everything from adoption to data quality, and convergence. Key findings include:
  • 96% of you continue to be supportive of SLCP’s mission.
  • Adoption remains the same as 2022 – 92% of signatories who responded are using the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) - BUT you did report that implementation is slower than expected.
  • There is a good level of satisfaction with SLCP governance, including with our five-year Strategy development process (74% very satisfied or satisfied).
  • On data quality and integrity, trust levels remain broadly the same (67%). Over 70% of brands and manufacturers believe the data is transparent, and 64% feel it is accurate. But there is still a fair difference between manufacturers’ trust of the data and brand trust, so more work to do here!

SLCP Roadshow 2024 – next stop: Bangladesh!
After a successful series of events in China last year, the SLCP team will be on the road again in 2024, training facilities in new sectors on the benefits of the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF). In May, we will be hosting special FREE events in Bangladesh to support the expansion and diversification of CAF use.

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
It would be great if you can invite your facility partners in Bangladesh to register their interest for the specific event that meets their needs. There are TWO training options:

SLCP Training For Beginners: An introduction for new sectors

Thinking of rolling out SLCP deeper in your supply chain or into your non-apparel supply chain? This training is perfect for your nominated facilities!

These free introductory trainings are designed for facilities in Tier 2 or Tier 3 of the textiles industry, or facilities in any tier of the non-apparel sector, who have not already completed an SLCP assessment. The events will take place in Dhaka and Chittagong on the week of 13th May. If you’d like your suppliers to get involved, please ask them to register their interest using
this link.

SLCP Deep Dive Trainings: The Data Collection Tool

Do you have facilities in Bangladesh who are already using SLCP and looking for more in-depth learnings?

We are also hosting free in-person deep dive trainings on the week of 13th May in Dhaka and Chittagong. These events are designed for facilities who are already familiar with the SLCP process, and who want to learn more about preparing and filling in our data collection tool, including common mistakes and country-specific guidance.

If this sounds like something that would benefit your partner facilities, please ask them to register their interest using
this link.
Due to sufficient Verifier Body (VB) and Verifier capacity in China, Bangladesh and India, the Verification Oversight Organization has temporarily paused the processing of SLCP Verifier and VB applications from Friday 9 February to Tuesday 30 April. We are constantly reviewing operational needs and may lift, extend or amend the pause on applications. Verifier Bodies will be notified of any changes in late April.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding on this. If you have any questions please reach out to the SLCP Helpdesk. You can also check out the latest update in our Technical Bulletin on our Helpdesk.

SLCP joins Policy Hub as Advisory Member 🤝
Last week, SLCP officially became a member of the Policy Hub, joining the Advisory Group. This new collaboration means SLCP will be able to provide a data-driven social perspective to Policy Hub’s policy positions, and SLCP gains additional insights and opportunities in EU policy through Policy Hub’s advocacy and events work.
SLCP in Action!

We’ve already been busy in Bangladesh!

At the Sustainable Apparel Forum event last week SLCP’s CEO Janet Mensink shed light on the crucial rule of harmonic social assessments in the supply chain. And on the ground in Dhaka, our Bangladesh lead, Urtty Majumder, connected with partners and presented data insights on trends in Bangladesh.

Roundtable in Brussels with Policy Hub and Fair Wear Foundation
Last week SLCP co-hosted a roundtable discussion on ‘Translating Legal Frameworks into Due Diligence Practices”. The discussion focused on the EU Due Diligence implementation, particularly for the textile sector. We look forward to continuing to work with PolicyHub and Fair Wear Foundation and our signatories on this important topic.
